The Best Canopy For Your Door

Canopies on the doors of homes and businesses are quite a common feature. They can make a person feel welcome whilst standing at the door, waiting for you to come answer. Moreover, they protect waiters from rain and sun. Canopy styles will differ depending on the residents tastes as well as the look of the door.

1. Glass doors

Glass doors will often have wooden or tile canopies, as opposed to glass ones. Glass doors can be very attractive, especially when pained, or better yet when the glass has a texture to it. However, they can also be unsafe. Glass is easy to break, and therefore makes a house easy to break into.

2. Wooden doors

Depending on the type of wood, the style and material of the door canopy will differ. Old wood for instance, looks very nice under a glass canopy, perhaps with wrought iron trimming. A newer wood, with a fresh coat of paint would also look nice under a glass canopy, but probably one which is also new and sharp looking. Tile, wood, and fibreglass are other materials commonly used as home canopies.

3. Double doors

Double doors are usually seen at the entrances of schools and office buildings. This is so that many people can flood in at once. Moreover, there is something quite grandiose about having two wide doors open at once when entering a building. It says ‘come in’ in a way that almost makes you feel like once you do, you won’t want to leave- which of course is not usually how people feel about school or work. The canopies over these doors, are often quite large, almost like covered walkways. Like the home door canopy protecting it’s guests from rain and sun, these large canopies are doing so for a greater number of people. Often these canopies are made of fabrics. Fabric can have a nice effect in that it is flexible and can therefore be moulded into a variety of shapes and styles. Moreover, it comes in a multitude of colours.

Another design which can be quite attractive on homes, is to enclose the entire front door area. Meaning that in addition to the little roof the canopy offers, there are also beams coming down from each side, making visitors feel like they are waiting in a mini house before the house. Some home owners go as far filling in the sides with actual glass or a combination of wood and glass, to make it fully enclosed.
